The short version: Librariness processes your files locally on your own computer. We do not store, read, or transmit your personal files to our servers. The only data we collect is what's needed to run the service (license validation, crash reports, and usage analytics).
1. Who We Are
Librariness ("we", "us", "our") is a software product operated by Librariness LLC. Our contact email is admin@librariness.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service:
- Email address — collected when you sign up for beta access or purchase a license. Used to send your license key and product updates.
- License key — stored locally on your device to verify your subscription status with LemonSqueezy.
- Crash reports — anonymous error reports sent to Sentry when the app crashes. These help us fix bugs. No file names or file contents are included.
- Usage analytics — anonymous events (e.g. "sort started", "sort completed") sent to PostHog. These help us understand how the product is used. No file names or file contents are included.
- Machine identifier — a hashed, anonymous identifier used by LemonSqueezy to associate your license with your device. It cannot be used to identify you personally.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
- The contents of your files
- Your file names or folder structure
- Your documents, photos, or any personal data stored on your computer
- Your browsing history or activity outside of Librariness
4. How Your Files Are Processed
When you run a sort, Librariness reads your files locally on your machine and sends file metadata (such as extracted text snippets) to an AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) using your own API key. This data is governed by the privacy policy of the AI provider you choose. We do not retain copies of your file data on our servers.
5. Cloud Storage Integrations
If you connect Google Drive, OneDrive, or Box, Librariness requests only the permissions needed to read and organize files within the folders you specify. We do not store your cloud storage credentials — authentication tokens are stored locally on your device. You can revoke access at any time through your Google, Microsoft, or Box account settings.
6. How We Use Your Data
- To deliver and activate your license
- To send you product updates and important notices
- To diagnose crashes and improve the product
- To understand feature usage and prioritize development
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

8. Data Retention

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
